Agreement to Terms
By accessing and using Talesmyth, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our service.
Description of Service
Talesmyth is a worldbuilding platform that helps storytellers create, organize, and manage their fictional worlds, characters, locations, and narratives. Our services include:
- World creation and management tools
- Character and location tracking
- AI-assisted worldbuilding features
- Document and note organization
- Template and genre systems
User Accounts
Account Creation
To use Talesmyth, you must create an account and provide accurate information. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
Account Responsibilities
You agree to:
- Provide accurate and current information
- Maintain the security of your password
- Accept responsibility for all activities under your account
- Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use
Your Content
Ownership
You retain full ownership of all content you create on Talesmyth. This includes worlds, characters, stories, notes, and any other creative works. We do not claim any ownership rights to your creative content.
License to Use
By using our service, you grant us a limited license to store, process, and display your content solely for the purpose of providing our services to you. We will not use your content for training AI models or other purposes without your explicit consent.
Acceptable Use
Permitted Uses
You may use Talesmyth to:
- Create and manage your own fictional worlds
- Collaborate with others on shared projects
- Export your content for personal use
- Use AI features to assist your creative process
Prohibited Uses
You agree not to:
- Use the service for illegal purposes
- Upload malicious code or harmful content
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
- Violate the rights of others (copyright, privacy, etc.)
- Spam or harass other users
AI Features
Optional Use
AI assistance features are optional. You may choose to use or disable these features at any time.
Data Usage
AI features process your content to provide suggestions and assistance. We do not use your content to train our AI models without your explicit consent.
Privacy and Data Protection
Your privacy is important to us. Our collection, use, and protection of your data is governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
Service Availability
Service Levels
We strive to maintain high service availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may temporarily suspend service for maintenance, updates, or technical issues.
Service Changes
We may update, modify, or discontinue features of Talesmyth at our discretion. We will provide reasonable notice of significant changes that affect your use of the service.
Payment and Billing
Free Tier
Talesmyth offers a free tier with generous features and monthly usage limits. Free accounts receive 10 credits per month and are subject to usage restrictions (3 worlds, 10 folders per world, 10 tales per world, 3 maps per world). No credit card is required to use the free tier.
Subscription Plans
We offer paid subscription plans (Storyteller and Worldsmyth) with expanded features and limits. Subscription fees are billed in advance on a monthly or annual basis, depending on your chosen plan.
Auto-Renewal
Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless you cancel before the renewal date. You will be charged the then-current subscription fee for your plan. You can cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings or billing portal. Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period.
Pricing and Taxes
All prices are listed in U.S. dollars and exclude applicable taxes unless otherwise stated. Taxes (including VAT, GST, and sales tax) may be added at checkout based on your location. We use Stripe Tax to automatically calculate and collect applicable taxes. Final charges will be shown before you complete your purchase.
Payment Processing
Payments are processed securely through Stripe. We do not store your complete payment information on our servers. By providing payment information, you authorize us to charge the applicable fees to your payment method.
Credits System
Credits are used to access AI features and expand world limits. Credits can be obtained through:
- Monthly grants: Free tier receives 10 credits/month; Storyteller receives 200 credits/month
- Credit packs: One-time purchases of credit bundles (Starter, Creator, Pro, Mega)
- Subscription benefits: Worldsmyth tier includes unlimited AI usage
Credit Terms
Credits never expire and carry over month-to-month. Credits are non-transferable and have no cash value. Credits cannot be transferred between accounts, sold, or exchanged for money. Upon account termination, all unused credits are forfeited without refund.
Refund Policy
Digital goods and services: Due to the nature of digital services, all sales are generally final. However, we may issue refunds on a case-by-case basis within 14 days of purchase for:
- Unused credit packs (credits must not have been spent)
- Technical issues preventing service access
- Billing errors or duplicate charges
Subscriptions: Subscriptions can be canceled at any time, but we do not provide partial refunds for unused portions of a billing period except where required by law.
EU/UK customers: You have a 14-day right of withdrawal for digital content. By purchasing credits or using AI features immediately, you expressly waive this right for instantly-usable digital content.

Chargebacks and Disputes
If you dispute a charge with your payment provider instead of contacting us first, we may suspend your account pending resolution. Fraudulent chargebacks may result in account termination. If a chargeback results in a negative credit balance, we reserve the right to restrict account creation features until the balance is resolved.
Price Changes
We may change our pricing at any time. Price changes for subscriptions will not affect your current billing period but will apply upon renewal. We will provide at least 30 days' notice of price increases for active subscriptions.
Fair Use Policy
The Worldsmyth "unlimited AI" tier is subject to fair use. While we do not impose hard limits, we reserve the right to:
- Monitor usage for abusive or automated patterns
- Contact users exhibiting excessive usage (e.g., >5M tokens/month or ~2,750 AI operations)
- Throttle or temporarily restrict access for users engaging in abuse
- Terminate accounts using automated scripts or bots to generate content
Normal human usage, even heavy usage for active worldbuilding projects, is always acceptable. This policy exists solely to prevent abuse and ensure service quality for all users.
Intellectual Property
Our Rights
Talesmyth and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by us and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
Your Rights
You retain all rights to your creative content. Nothing in these terms grants us any ownership interest in your work.
Termination
By You
You may terminate your account at any time through your account settings. Upon termination:
- You may request export of your content before deletion
- Active subscriptions will be canceled (no refund for current billing period)
- All unused credits will be forfeited without refund
- Your account and data will be permanently deleted after a grace period
By Us
We may terminate or suspend accounts that violate these terms or engage in prohibited activities. We will provide notice when possible, except in cases of immediate harm or legal necessity. In cases of termination for cause, no refunds will be provided.
Effect of Termination
Upon termination of your account, your right to use the service immediately ceases. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (including payment obligations, intellectual property rights, disclaimers, and limitations of liability) will continue to apply.
Disclaimers
Talesmyth is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that the service will be error-free, secure, or uninterrupted.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Talesmyth shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of our service.
Governing Law
These Terms of Service are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Talesmyth operates, without regard to conflict of law principles.
Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes via email or platform notifications. Continued use of the service constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
