Talesmyth 2.0: a much richer editor
Today we’re shipping Talesmyth 2.0, a big step forward for how you write, structure, and connect your worlds.
This update is less about a single flashy feature and more about upgrading the core editor so it feels more flexible, more reliable, and ready for what comes next.
What’s new
Tables
You can now insert tables directly into your Tales and entity notes. You can add and remove rows and columns, merge cells, and set background colors. A simple toolbar appears whenever you click inside a table, so you can edit without memorizing keyboard shortcuts.
Checklists
There is now a dedicated checklist block type. You can create interactive to do style lists with tickable checkboxes. That makes it easy to track plot points, research tasks, or character arc notes right inside your world.
Nested and indented lists
Bulleted and numbered lists now support multiple levels of indentation. Use Tab and Shift+Tab to indent and outdent items, so you can structure outlines, hierarchies, and breakdowns however you like.
Info block
The old blockquote and code block types have been replaced with a new Info block. It has a visual callout style with a teal accent border, a subtle background, a lightbulb icon, and muted text that works in both light and dark themes. Just pick it from the block type dropdown and drop it in.
Smarter copy and paste
Copying content between Tales now preserves named item links correctly. If you paste from a different world, the editor will try to match named items by name instead of by ID, so your links point to the right entities instead of breaking.
Editor polish and fixes
We also made a bunch of smaller improvements that make the editor feel smoother day to day:
- Tab and Shift+Tab now indent and outdent the current paragraph, matching the behavior people expect.
- Keyboard navigation between lines is more predictable.
- @ and # links respect font style and size properly, so they do not override the surrounding text.
- The block type dropdown is disabled when the cursor is inside a table or list, so you do not accidentally change the block type and mess up your layout.
- The @ search is now fuzzy and also includes aliases, so you can find entities more easily by any name you have given them.
Under the hood, the editor has been rebuilt for better performance and stability. This is not just a coat of paint. It is a new foundation that will let us ship more rich text features in future releases.
We also fixed a few quirks:
- Named item links were sometimes showing up as bold text after changing a paragraph’s block type, for example when converting to a blockquote. That no longer happens.
- Font size display would sometimes not update when moving the cursor to a different part of the document. Now it updates correctly.
What this unlocks
Talesmyth 2.0 is really about making the editor feel more like a proper workspace for your world. Tables let you lay out stats, timelines, and faction charts cleanly. Checklists help you track progress and open questions. Nested lists help you outline arcs and scenes. And the new Info block gives you a clean way to call out notes and side comments without leaning on code blocks or blockquotes.
If you try it, we would love to know what you are using these new features for, whether it is tracking lore, planning campaigns, or organizing your own long form writing. You can drop a note in the Discord or just reply in the app.
Update is live now. Go build something messy, structured, or a bit of both.
